Family Jewels Name Game, Chapter 1-4

In case you can't tell, this is the chapter where we finally get a fabricator. Joy. Anyway, welcome back to Family Jewels: Maximum Brood, where we are playing a Name Game with kids named after the absurdly long names of gemstones. When we left off, Quartz and Declan were raising the Q twins and Ulexite, and Quartz is now expecting baby A, their dumpster baby. Let's get started...

Both Quartz and Declan need the fabricator for their aspirations, and we finally saved up enough money plus bits and pieces that it seemed doable. Quartz gives it a run.

And is quickly unsuccessful. Oh well, I'm sure that's just from being a beginner, and not because the item is fundamentally horrible!

With Declan off work for a day, Quartz leaves the passersby alone for once and makes Declan listen to her wild new idea, called "a roundabout." He's a bit more encouraging than others, but not by much.

Aww, Quartz is taking out the trash and carrying a trash baby. Isn't that precious?

The real reason for this pic is that we scooped this computer up from a dumpster. Quartz repaired it so we could sell it for the full amount in good conscience. Although it's a lot nicer than the one we have, it's also worth A LOT of money, and we kinda need that more.

Quartz's next several attempts at the fabricator also ended in failure. We also ran out of bits for a while because damn these designs are expensive, and you don't get back the ones you waste on failed fabrications.

This is also when the Star Wars patch broke all our pretty CC windows.

Ulexite has my whole heart. She's so adorable. Everyone in this family really loves A Rock, though, and the toddlers especially always seek him out if they're not doing anything else.

Speaking of toddlers, we're about to have two fewer. First up is Quetzal.

And then Qusong.

Quetzal is cute but boy is it hard to put her name on these cards. I hope you can still read it okay. She is a dog lover, which is not terribly surprising considering both her parents are, and she wants to be a rambunctious scamp.

Qusong is identical to Quetzal and also wants to be a rambunctious scamp, but she is a vegetarian like the twins' dad. The traits are showing a lot of genetic tendencies so far! Besides their skin color, which is a nice intermediate to their two parents, the girls take after Quartz quite a bit, but I had them keep their dad's hair texture since it goes with their skin color.

Quartz immediately oversees a homework party for two in front of our shrine of failure to patch breakage, a.k.a. what used to be the arch to the living room. It's still functional though, thank God.

Quetzal continues her quest to make me have to put her through 15 pregnancies by taking center stage. I think she's hoping to cement her place in the hearts of the readers.

Less cute is this behavior, however.

Both girls needed to play on a jungle gym while playful and we aren't made of money (we aren't even made of coupons at this point), so Quartz took them down to Oasis Spring's park. Does it look a little different, though? Encouraged by how much better the Caboose bar reno was and also by how bored I am of the default lots, I've decided we're going to replace every lot we visit with a download from the Gallery. Just like we're getting all new townies for this save, we'll be replacing the lots bit by bit too, so things will stay fresh. This spectacularly scenery-appropriate lot with a million and one activities is available on the Gallery and is by HighlandGaming.

Quartz is just there to supervise, so she works on her next hot new idea. This one is "a roundabout," I believe.

The girls get their aspiration step completed.

And Quartz gets in a little chess with Miracle. We don't want her at the house since she's a kleptomaniac, but even though Quartz is best friends with Dana now, Miracle was still her first friend.

Speaking of Dana, she's using her house key to poorly water our plants. Thanks a ton, Dana.

Ready to burst, Quartz heads off for a day of work in the office for once since Declan had the day off.

That means he's on toddler duty, and even getting sick (which you can tell from the rash here) is no excuse if you're the only parent home.

Sickness seems to be going around, though. Even the computer's got a bug. (I'll show myself out...)

That evening, Quartz finally goes into labor with baby A.

We welcome to the family Axinite, our dumpster baby and another girl, this one with a more intermediate skintone than her sisters.

The Q twins are united in their front that there were already enough kids, thank you very much. They're so united they've merged, in fact.

Qusong, who is normally the level-headed one, is furious to have a new sibling.

Ulex is excited however, and made this cute face upon meeting Axinite.

Quetzal is still trying to win our good graces by being the nice twin for once, so she changed her mind after the fusion attempt.

The girls got monkey bars to work on their aspiration, and A Rock kindly supervises.

Inside, Ulex is having a much scarier experience with playground equipment.

On childcare duty again, Declan stays near Axinite while dipping candles, since we got some more bits.

Quartz makes sure to use hers wisely too.

Sick again, Declan propositions his wife, but I feel like she's thinking, "Honey, the only thing you're getting tonight is an ointment."

Axinite decided to grow herself up. Declan is as surprised as I was. She snuck up on us while we were busy. Nice to see more purple.

Yes, Quartz's genes are strong in the coloration department, though I think Axinite has some more of Declan's features, though, of course, it's hard to tell with toddlers. She's fussy.

It looks like Quartz is trying to dodge Miracle here, but really she's about to get clobbered by the fabricator again. I'm this close to letting Miracle in just in the hopes that she'll steal the fabricator.

More unofficial cat hangout visitations. This cat is really cute. Too bad we're a dog family at present.

The kids are heading off to a day of school looking adorbs in their semi-matching outfits.

That leaves the toddlers in the nursery.

And Quartz trying to get some Plumboomba in to work off a bit of the baby weight. It's a lost cause though, and she eventually got so busy that I forgot about having her try again. This really isn't a terribly efficient way to do it either. Maybe someday they can afford a treadmill.

This kid is so cool! From his luscious red locks to his all-pink statement outfit, Johnathan is not a kid to be trifled with. We must make him someone's friend someday. Unfortunately, he walked by during school so no one greeted him.

Ulex: *babbles incessantly*
Axi (her nickname): "Sure, Jan."

Wow! I have never seen a toddler look so dismissive before. Axi is serving some major attitude and I kind of love it? You know I always enjoy my kids more when they're not perfectly good.

Axi: "Mommy, I hafta talk Ulex?"
Quartz: "You don't have to, sweetie, but it's good to be nice to your sister."
Axi: "Mommy, she basic."

Goodness.

With another round of sickness going around, Ulex's birthday has come up, so Axi should be spared the worst of it.

Ulex is so cute! She definitely looks a lot like Quartz in her features, like her older sisters, but she seems to have Declan's slimmer jaw. It's interesting that she's the only child so far with Declan's eye color. Like one of the twins, Ulex is a dog lover (apparently that's a dominant gene in this family?) and she wants to be a whiz kid.

Ulex: "Mom, I love you and I appreciate you helping me grow up, but I'm going to need you to stand six feet away, please. You're contagious."

Ah, smart already!

Since the Q twins got to go to the park, I had Quartz take Ulex with her on a trip to the community lot, but they still haven't done anything with it. Quartz was able to check the board for her job, but she felt bad there was nothing for Ulex to do.

So she took her to one of my favorite lots I've ever downloaded, a cute little toddler cafe that also works really well for kids, although I modified it to be a park so you can have toddler playdates here. It's called Toddler Cafe and it's on the Gallery by Laladie. There, Quartz was able to finish her job duties ("...so you see, the idea came to me: what if the road went in a circle?...") and then she was able to give Ulex her undivided attention.

They enjoyed three games of chess, which got Ulex a good start on her aspiration.

Back home, the successes continue as the Q's work on school projects.

Axi is keeping her favorite company (herself) when A Rock comes running in to show off to her.

Of course, Axi doesn't even blink when A Rock explodes in sparkles into a whole dog, albeit a very filthy one. She's very hard to impress.

And here's our A Rock needing a bath, but finally an adult. He's cute, but I think he'll be cuter once we scrub that grime off. That'll wait until next time though, because we've reached the end of the chapter! Thanks for reading, and check in with me at Boolprop while you wait for the next chapter. I have two more laid out, and I'm taking my last final tomorrow, so hopefully they'll be up soon. Bye!
