Family Jewels Name Game, Chapter 1-7

Hello and welcome back, yet again! Last chapter saw a lot of birthdays, with the Q's becoming teens, Axi becoming a child, Ru becoming a toddler, and Declan becoming an adult. Qusong also began her journey towards having a Vampire Family by getting bitten. That pretty much catches us up since like 95% of last chapter (give or take) was cake pics, so let's get started today . . .

Over dinner leftovers from their ill-fated Winterfest, the girls are mostly doing good, but Qusong isn't feeling great and doesn't finish her dinner.

In the middle of the night . . .

Qusong: "Oh my God! Quetzal, wake up!"
Quetzal: "No. It's 3 am. Go back to sleep!"
Qusong: "AHHHHHH!"
Quetzal: "I said GO TO SLEEP!!!"

Is it just me or are vampire 'looks' even worse than townies? Get it together, EA.

Made over, Qusong's dark form is looking very mysterious and tough, which I think is perfect for a vampire. It's hard to see in this pic but she transformed into the red eyes with black sclera, and I think with this skintone they look perfect for her. She's now started down the path to having a lot of vampire offspring, the first step of which was to be a vampire, of course.

Coincidentally, I noticed the family had saved up the amount of money I had wanted for them to finish working on their house (we had no stairs, most of the rooms were blocked off, and the upstairs had no windows, among other problems). I didn't like the layout so I fixed it, expanding the house in the process, and I also added a few outbuildings. This made me realize that the lot they were on (in the Calientes' neighborhood in Oasis Springs), was going to be too small for what I wanted to do by the time they built up their outside stuff, so I moved them to the former Landgraab lot.

Unfortunately, this is a sand lot, unlike the lush lawn of their former lot, so I had to get creative with some of the landscaping. It's also obviously not done, and I later tweaked a few things on the front of the house, but this is basically the form the house will take. All the rooms are now open, but most are completely undecorated. I'll be decorating bit by bit as we get more money. In the back, there's a small pool, a greenhouse, and a workshop for some of the fabrication toys. I built this house based on a picture of a real-life house, and I ended up changing the back parts of the roof substantially (my reference pic had no back view, but you could tell there wasn't a second large sloping roof, for instance) to provide more room and have the shape of the house make sense. Overall, I'm pretty happy with it. I think it's kind of cool-looking, and it's definitely different from what I normally build.

While the family settles in, Quartz headed off to a community lot for her job tasks and to rummage for bits. While there, she got a bit of a surprise.

Random woman: "Hey Quartz, did you bring your husband with you?"
Quartz: "No, he just showed up for some reason."
Random: "Oh, but he's been dumpster diving for you, right?"
Quartz: "Sigh, no he literally just arrived already stinking. I have no idea why. You see why I don't like leaving the lot."

Quartz: "Hello, yes, SimTaxi? I'm going to need a ride, and you might want to put some garbage bags down on one of the seats. Yes, for my husband. Yes, he's having quite a day."
Declan: *is uncomfy*
Random: "Cheers to that." (???)

Back home and after a swift shower for Declan, it's Ulex's birthday.

Ulex: "I look cool, right?"
Quetzal: "Yeah, it is a little chilly in here."
Ulex: "No, I mean I look totally awesome, right?"
Quetzal: "Uh, no comment."

Man, we are having some rough transitions here in the sartorial department.

Immediately after, it was also Ru's childhood birthday. She's looking quite a bit better. I even really like that hair on her, but I decided she's going to stick with Declan's natural hair texture that she wore as a toddler.

Ulex, freshly made-over, is adorable! She's a really pretty mix, with most of Quartz's features and her hair, but Declan's face shape and eye color. Our fresh-faced but intellectually-lacking Ulex is, as before, a dog lover, but she's now also childish like her dad. She also wants to be a Bestselling Author, so it's a good thing we finally taught her her ABC's in time for sophomore year.

Rubellite is a cutie! She reminds me most of Axi because of the skin color (they have the same tone) and the mouth, but she's got some Quartz in her too, like the eyes and nose. She and Ulex are the most complete genetic mixes so far, but they're on opposite sides of the spectrum for which parent they favor. This is the hair that Ru originally grew up in as a toddler, and I think it looks really great on her as a child. She is also a dog lover, meaning that every current kid except Axi (our cat lover) loves dogs. I know both parents have it, but man is that a strongly genetic trait! She wants to be a Whiz Kid, which I can totally see for her because she was a great skiller as a toddler.

Quetzal was taking candid photos of her mom to raise her photography skill, and in one of them, I noticed that we might have a slight problem with the door to the outside being on a platform. They've been getting through it just fine but that doesn't exactly scream safety.

Anyway, with maxed photography, Quetzal took photos of her mom and dad for what will be our photo wall.

I'm choosing to oversaturate the photos, in keeping with the covers of these chapters, because I like the colorful nature for our gemstone family. These pictures turned out cute.

Meanwhile, Qusong is getting a start on her vampire family by turning a sim she made friends with when she was working on Social Butterfly. This is Helen Smiley, which is just an adorable name. She's actually an adult, despite the white hair.

Qusong: "Hey, that was fun! I definitely think I picked a good aspiration. Can't wait until I have a bunch of vampire minions."
Helen: "Ughhhh."

Just then Vlad stopped by, and Qusong was able to get some advice and mentoring in the vampire skill.

Helen: "UGHHHH!!!"

Axi has completed Whiz Kid. I think I gave her Artistic Prodigy next.

That evening is New Year's, so most of the family and some friends gather around to watch the countdown.

Of course Axi makes sure to stay well back in case she might accidentally *shiver* socialize with anyone.

Happy New Year, Cabochons!

Another day, another moment where A Rock is having an unusual relationship with his own poop. Same ol', same ol', right? Today he's guarding it, I guess. Idk.

Ulex: "Hey ya know what, Qusong? You should make me a vamp."
Qusong: "I don't think that's a good idea."
Ulex: "Yeah, but I really want to be a vampire. She's cancelled the whim four times already since you turned."
Qusong: "Being a vampire is a lot of responsibility, Ulex. I can't make just anybody a vampire."
Ulex: "Well, that sucks."

Later . . .

Ulex: "You really are making just anybody a vampire!"
Qusong: "Aw, shit."
Ulex: "You gotta make me a vampire!!!"

Ulex: "Please please please please please please please please please please please please..."

Ulex: "...please please please please please please please--"
Qusong: "Fine! I just want to prepare you that this will hurt. A lot."
Ulex: "Okay."
Qusong: "And you'll never be an outdoors kind of person."
Ulex: "That's fine, I'm already working on the indoorsy and sedentary lifestyles."
Qusong: "And you'll have to drink plasma."
Ulex: "Yah."
Qusong: "And, as my offspring, you have to respect me and do as I say."
Ulex: "Kay."
Qusong: "Okay, well, here goes." *bites* "Oh, and you have to study vampire lore to get stronger."
Ulex: "Study? I'm not sure--"

Qusong: "Too late! Now I just finish the process with a quick kick to the knee."
Ulex: "Hee hee my boobs are purple."
Qusong: "What have I done?"

Qusong's third offspring is Johnathan, the former red-locked, pink-clad supermodel child who I grew up and made over in a similar style to his youthful glory, just because I felt like Qusong needed to make him a vampire. We found out he's mean, but more importantly, we found out he's Helen's son, so Qusong has turned 2/3 of the Smiley family into vampires. Sucks to be Johnathan's sister.

This is number four. I can never remember her name.

Quetzal: "Phew, Mom, is that stench you or your New Year's cocktail that you've been holding on to for way too long?"
Quartz: "Hard to tell, hard to tell. I'm just drinking it while breathing through my mouth, so it's fine."
Quetzal: "Oh God."

Axinite has never been much on befriending her sisters, but she went to give Qusong a hug spontaneously, which caught me so by surprise that I had to document it.

Quartz is heading off to work in a snazzy suit and her broken hat chops. She's also showing off our new cluttered kitchen, which is the first room in the house to get decorated.

Meanwhile, Declan is getting spit out of the fabricator yet again, but at least A Rock is there to supervise.

Quetzal has a really rough time with visitors. Johnathan here is insulting her, which she's not too pleased with, but at some point she also acquired a 'hurt' sentiment from Dana too.

Dana absolutely loves Qusongite, however. She even helped her with her homework. Also, note to self, need to put the presents away. They're still just chilling from our disastrous Winterfest.

Helen is the first of Qusong's offspring to turn, and I gotta say, she actually did it fairly gracefully.

The random cats that stalk our lot are getting quite fancy lately. Who is dressing up the strays?

Welp, the fabricator is still working about as well as expected. Also noticed that the back door has the same platform problem. I later went back and added platform "steps" at the front and back doors so they looked a bit more natural.

Quetzal is trying to enjoy a nice dinner when Ulex interrupts her with a hip check to the face because she's turning into a vampire.

Ulex: "Oh man, I bet I look so cool now as a vampire! I didn't get my age-up outfit quite right, but I bet I'm so awesome now."
Quetzal: "I really don't know how to tell you this..."

Ulex: "Oh, man. So cool! The random broken CC patches really make the look."
Quetzal: "You know, it's rude to transform into an occult on top of someone's dinner. I think I'll just finish my grilled cheese over here."
Quartz: "What the heck is my life anymore?"

Anyway, after her makeover, Ulex is certainly looking more fun and a lot less broken. I decided to go for a really colorful look for her.

She looks super cute, imo.

But she's definitely a different type of vampire than Qusong, who is pictured here for comparison.

Ulex: "I feel like it's kind of unfair how cool I look as a vampire."
Qusong: "You look like a fruit salad."
Ulex: "What?!"
Qusong: "How am I going to show my face to the other vampires when my offspring looks like this?"

Ulex: "Well, that's not very nice. Whatever Qusong says, I know I'm a cool vampire."

Ulex: *pops a Capri Sun* "So cool!"
Qusong: *sigh*

Qusong: "Look, Ulex, I feel like you're not taking being a vampire seriously. You gotta at least try to be a little dark and mysterious, a little menacing and sexy."
Ulex: "What do you think I'm doing, silly?"
Qusong: "Wait, that is you trying?"

Whatever their differences of opinion on vampire style, at least they'll always have their Capri Suns.

And we'll wrap up the chapter with A Rock in our rock garden, which is one of his favorite spots for what I'm sure are very good reasons. Don't forget we still have babies T and Z to go, but we gotta get some teens out of the house first! Check back next time to see some progress on that front. In the mean time, you can stop by Boolprop to let me know your thoughts on the family. Thanks for reading!
