Hello hello! Hope you're having a good holiday season/winter break/end of December! We find ourselves at another Family Jewels update in which the Cabochon family continues to try to spell Q-U-A-R-T-Z and raise those children to YAs (the point of the Name Game). The Q twins (Quetzalcoatlite and Qusongite) moved out at the end of the last chapter and Quartz got pregnant with baby T, while she and Declan are still raising Ulexite, Axinite, and Rubellite. Man, I'm probably going to have so many babies with I, T, E names by the end of this! Anyway, let's jump in. . .We'll open with Axinite in her cute cat-loving pajamas. We're still updating this house so this section is horribly drab, but we're working on it.
This chapter starts directly after the end of the last one, so here's Quartz letting Declan know they're back in the baby-making business.
And of course, we have A Rock around, although he looks like he's gotten into the baking flour (really he's just an elder). I will never stop loving his ginormous ears.
Qusong immediately stopped by, even though it was daylight, and helped Axi with homework. Axi and Ru look a bit unsure, though.
Axinite: "Weren't you just living here five minutes ago?"
Rubellite: "I'm uneasy appearing this early in a chapter."
One person who is definitely glad to see Qusong is her closest friend and vampire offspring, younger sister Ulex.
It's summer, and the sims have discovered that I put down a wading pool. Everyone loves it and rolls whims for it all summer long.
Hmm, taking the dog for a walk, Axi? Sure you don't want to join all your kin in loving dogs after all?
Axi: "He's okay, but no. I just drew the short stick because A Rock was whining and everyone else was busy. Even if I'm not a dog person, all pets deserve care, I guess."
A Rock: "You am FRIEMD."
Axi: "Sigh. Okay, we're friends now after that walk. But I still want a cat when I'm older!"
A Rock: *hearteyes*
Axi: "It's one of mom's excursions. We watch her dumpster dive in exchange for going somewhere fun as children."
Ru: "Why are you here then?"
Axi: "We couldn't remember if I had ever gone anywhere as a child (turns out yes but it was with the twins), so this is their attempt to pretend I'm not the real middle child of this family."
Ru: "I'm nervous."
Axi: "Why?"
Ru: "I've done so well in the backgrounds of the chapters this far. I don't understand what to do here in the spotlight, being paid attention to. It's weird."
Axi: "Hmm, with a complex like that, maybe you can be a middle child with me."
Anyway, while that's going on, Quartz is dumpster diving while a guy attempts to do a respectful introduction to her with her back turned, so this is status quo.
The next day, Quartz, having found no willing victims, is now presenting her concept to a blank wall. If someone presents a concept and no one is there to here it, is it really a roundabout?
Ru came home with her grade school A and Axi has her high school A. Everyone has been earning those points, even if I haven't been remarking on it.
In their new workshop, Quartz and Declan are kept company by the NAP inspector and random short-shorts man from the Qs' childhood social butterfly days. A little hard to focus in here, yup. That must be why Quartz failed again. Not because the fabricator is made of lies.
It's like the good old days with Quartz heading off to work pregnant. Now that the children can all pretty much fend for themselves, she can actually go in for a few shifts.
Meanwhile, with the writing of a third bestseller, Ulex has completed every part of her aspiration except the royalties, and I expect the final batch to meet the total to roll in the day of her birthday.
Until then, she can work on her vampire powers a bit and just tend to needs, because her birthday is coming up very soon.
She also finds some time to become companions with A Rock. They had a lot of intellectual discussions (shocking considering it's Ulex, but that's what the interaction is called. Maybe they were "intellectual" discussions) while she was writing, so their friendship was really high by the time she was unchained from the desk.
Axi entered the retail career, and since she was already an A student, she started at the second level. She returns tonight at the top of the retail career. Congrats, Axi! Not sure why she didn't have to wear a uniform tonight.
Ru: "Ugh, ew."
Quartz: "Um, let's continue this conversation elsewhere, dear. The kids do have ears, you know."
Ulex then reads
A Rock came down with an illness after hearing Ulex attempt to read aloud. Wow, she literally made him sick with that. Unfortunately. . .
Quartz woke up in labor, so A Rock is going to have to wait just a little bit. Everyone except Axi is here to freak out.
Soon he was feeling right as rain. This is the thankful look he gave Quartz as the table lowered back down to the floor. What a sweetie. We love a grateful pup. We also found out when he was being checked in that he was never neutered, but this has never been a problem before, interestingly enough.
While A Rock was being treated, Quartz picked up some wellness treats for the future, and since it's allowed for sims, she also grabbed an age-down treat. I'm entirely unready to lose A Rock, so he gets an extension on his life expectancy.
Soon enough he's feeling like a spry young dog again, and he looks delightedly at his own once-again-black fur.
Back home now that the emergency is over, let's get a better look at Topaz. She's looking so far like she'll take after her mom quite a bit, but it's almost impossible to tell much from babies. Weirdly, the baby skin I have only works when someone picks the baby up, so when they're in the crib, they have those """adorable""" EA skins but with custom onesies.
Quartz: "Hmm, my baby is giving me an idea. A road, but make it round..."
She's just so endlessly creative, folks. Kind of amazing all the roads in Oasis Springs aren't all just interlocking roundabouts or concentric circles at this point with her in charge of civil planning.
Dana: "Oh, I'm sorry. You must have misunderstood. What I said was, it sucks AND I've heard it before."
Quartz: "Well, thanks for the constructive criticism, I guess."
Dana: "You know, maybe I was too harsh, Quartz. Frankly, your visionary idea has me feeling a little emotional. Give me a moment, please."
Quartz: "Oh, I didn't realize she cared that much about roundabouts."
Ulex is close to maxing her vampire skill but her power tree is still pretty lacking. For some reason, I decided I want her to have super speed, but she's not anywhere close to being able to unlock that, so she's mostly just hoarding points right now. In the meantime, she's listening to metal on the stereo.
Ulex: "I am a cool vampire!"
Sure, honey.
Qusong: "Yeah, it's boring at our place."
Quetzal: "Soon you will join us, sister."
Ulex: "Well, that's not creepy at all when you say it like that."
Today's workers come home with plenty of money. We're getting close to another burst of interior decorating.
Qusong: "Do you ever feel like you're not a real adult, Quetzal?"
Quetzal: "Oh, totes. Being a young adult is a hard transition to make."
Qusong: "Yeah, going from teen mentality to adult is a change, for sure."
Quetzal: "But then some never made it even to teen mentality, and they do just fine."
Declan: "zoom! crash! neighhhhh! ahhh no! ooh!"
Qusong: "Our family."
House: *is apparently consumed in a conflagration*
Qusong: *is now a void ghost with only one set of eyelashes*
Good birthday.
Here's Ru. She's still rocking her natural hair texture, and she looks great in her grown up purple outfits and glasses. She's got her dad's mouth, like Axi, but Quartz's large eyes like the rest of the girls. She's a very good mix. Besides being a dog lover like both parents, she's now jealous like her mom, and she wants to have a Big, Happy Family, which isn't a terrible aspiration for this challenge but is one that I can't advance in her teen years.
The twins are proving to be good big sisters and provide homework help to whoever needs it. Qusong just finished with Ulex, and Quetzal is mentoring Ru.
Nothing interesting happened until it was Ulex's birthday. Ru has found the pool, which will prove to be one of the great loves of her life, so she's in her swimsuit. Happy birthday, Ulex!
Uh, is that all?
Ulex: "Yah, pretty much."
Ulex: "Yah, pretty much."
You don't want to be heir?
Ulex: "Oh yeah, that would be pretty rad, too."
Sigh.
Ulexite is undoubtedly gorgeous, looking a lot like her mother but with her father's face shape. She got her last royalties that she needed, so her new aspiration is Nerd Brain now that Bestselling Author is completed. I love that our beautiful yet of dubious intellect third child keeps approaching lofty intellectual goals. I keep imagining Elle Woods saying, "What, like it's hard???"
Declan: "Nope, none whatsoever."
A Rock: *is thankfully asleep*
Why are we best friends with Dana again? Just because Miracle was a klepto and they had a good cloudgazing session once? For a best friend, she's not very supportive.
Anyway, we've reached the end of yet another chapter. Trucking along in this generation again, finally. Next chapter we'll meet baby Z and see Topaz as a toddler, as well as get a move on with other aspects. Check in with me at Boolprop in the meantime, and be sure to check back for more Family Jewels: Maximum Brood. Thanks!
